Australia has plenty of choice via overseas cloud hosting providers, many claiming to be the biggest, some even boasting preferential pricing which places new clients ahead of existing customers. The reality for many businesses is finding and ordering services wastes a ridiculous amount of time and energy, whilst services are crafted more for provider convenience or sales funnel sign-up process, rather than customer requirement.

In many cases, so called preferential pricing is still excessive (often more than double our monthly charges) or comes with conditions such as an introductory period, limited availability or long term contracts.

What about right-sized/just fits solutions? These are often reduced performance virtualised servers that attempt to shoe-horn customer systems into a contained (limited) service offering, often leading to performance constraints, followed by additional upgrade costs to maintain customer satisfaction.

We often see these scenarios as a result of consultants who recommend hosting and services, sometimes with a referral fee, financial interest or relationship with the provider to assist them in a preferred outcome. Australian businesses are then locked into high value increasing price contracts (charged in US Dollars) instead of creating a cost effective solution that actually matches their needs.

It's an expensive and sub-standard outcome, usually squeezing customers into a boxed solution with products and services they don't need whilst excluding critical services such as 24x7 Technical Support, monitoring and alerts and system backups. To make matters worse, once contracts are signed the consultant or sales representative has already moved on and has little (if any) vested interest in your success.

Our customers are looking for a provider with infrastructure close to clients and local technical support who respond, care and can be relied upon.

Many of our customers have migrated from overseas based providers after their services were interrupted during Australian business hours or monthly costs kept increasing in US dollars whilst support was almost non-existent.

Don't forget about all those other hidden "extras" like domain names, DNS hosting, configuring systems and applications. There are still some Australian providers charging $200 for a domain name (2 year registration), more than 10 times the price for Cloud365 customers.
